Dayna Steele became synonymous with Houston radio, lending her voice to Top 40 104 KRBE (1979-1981), 97 Rock (KSRR) (1981-1982) and rocker 101 KLOL where she became known as “The First Lady of Rock ‘n Roll.”

Steele returns to the radio when she debuts on online Houston Radio Platinum, on Monday, January 8, 2024, and will broadcast in the mid-day slot of 10:00 AM till 2:00 PM Monday through Friday. Current mid-day personality, Joey K will move to the 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM Monday through Friday slot.

2pm-6pm: Joey K.
6pm-9pm: Otto Matic
6pm-9pm: Chuck Shorter (Friday only 6-9)
9pm-12am: Donna Reed

She was featured as one of the top female disc jockeys in the country on the Friday Morning Quarterback “Women of Rock”. That next year, Steele was nominated as Radio Air Personality of the Year by Billboard Magazine. Of the five nominees, Steele was the only woman to be nominated. In 2010, Steele was inducted into the Texas Radio Hall of Fame.

In addition to Steele, former KLOL DJ Moby (also 97 Rock KSRR) broadcasted on Houston Radio Platinum before his death.

Other former KLOL rock personalities still on the radio today include Outlaw Dave, Grego, Colonel St. James and Chris Alan.

The station features classic hits from the 60s, 70s, and 80s.
